Today is International Volunteer Day, and the theme for 2017 is “Volunteers Act First. Here. Everywhere.” This is the time for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, share their values, and promote their work among the community! The United Nations Volunteers program helps to promote peace and development by supporting the recognition of volunteers and working to integrate volunteerism into development programming. The Kellogg Family Foundation wants to take today to celebrate and recognize the hard working volunteers who answer the call during times of crisis.
Our Foundation was built on the philosophy of supporting local programs and volunteerism to help further our efforts to better both our community and the world. Volunteering is an act that can be found in all cultures, languages, and beliefs. Every day, thousands of people give their time and skills to volunteer organizations in an effort to help make the world a better place. When you volunteer, you help improve the lives of others and yourself. You also strengthen your sense of belonging within your community.
Every year, on December 5th, people celebrate International Volunteer Day around the world. They hold rallies, parades, volunteer fairs, donation drives, fundraisers, and other volunteer recognition events. What will you do to recognize the hardworking volunteers in your community?
Our Local Red Cross Mid Michigan Chapter needs volunteers.
